Saul had a mission from God to defeat the enemies of Israel and to spare nothing from destruction. While Saul defeated his enemies, they kept the best of the spoils, supposedly to sacrifice to God, once again demonstrating Saul's inability to follow God’s commands. God admonished Saul, reminding him His call to obedience was more important than any sacrifice Saul intended to make. We have a mission from God as disciples of Jesus. However, we can often seek to honor God with our good intentions while failing to honor God by our obedience to His instruction for our lives. We should live out our mission from God by being obedient to God before all else.
