David and his men had pursued the Amalekites and recovered all that they had stolen from them. Along the way, some of David’s men became too tired to finish the pursuit. After the victory, all the “wicked and worthless fellows” who had gone with David wanted to keep the men who stayed behind from receiving their share of the spoil. David, once again keeping his focus on God, noted it was God who had given them the victory and reminded the men the spoil was to be shared with all. For us today, this is a great reminder that all we have in life is from the hand of God. All we believe we “earn”, “work for”, or “fight for” is from the hand of God.
