Compassion is putting sympathy into action. We can often feel bad for others, that is called having sympathy. When we put our feelings into action to lift others up, that is called compassion. When we look at the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ feeding of the 5000, we see His compassion for the people extended to both their spiritual needs and their physical needs. Our study this week will challenge us to move beyond feeling bad for others and to respond to our feelings and meet the needs, both spiritual and physical, of those around us.
