Hold One Another Accountable

Dario Agnolutto • 1 Corinthians 5:11-12

From the series: Dear Church

Discipline is something no one likes, but everyone needs. Though it is unpleasant, it is a mark of love for one another. Paul reminds the early church of the need to discipline those who call themselves believers, but who are living in a way that defies their calling in Christ. The call is not to punishment, but to repentance, and then to restoration. We need to hold one another accountable for our walk, because each of us reflects a witness for Jesus as the church. When we are living in a way that contradicts God’s Word, we are no longer presenting the truth of God to the world, but creating confusion in the world about the calling of God’s Word.
