Saul’s failure to live with God as his focus led to him into sin – jealousy, insecurity, fear of losing what he had, envy for the accolades of people over God just to name a few. We battle these very sins today when we are not walking with God, seeking to live for God, or trusting God to provide for our needs. The consequences for our sins is a life of torment. Our sins also have consequences for those around us. We must learn to identify those feelings we have that are indicators of living for ourselves rather than living with God as our focus.
