The First Promise

November 21, 2021

Dario Agnolutto • Genesis 2:16-17

From the series: Promise Keeper

God’s command to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil can read, at first glance, as a rule of God to keep something from us. As we come to know God, however, we understand it was a command of God to keep us from death; it was a promise of the pain we would suffer if we ate from the tree.  To appreciate the power and perfection of God’s promises and how He chooses to fulfill them, we need to appreciate God is, and always has been, for us, not against us. Our message this morning will remind us the trials of our world were of our making, not God’s desires, and that God’s promises can always be trusted to be for our good, in accordance with His Holiness.
